Spencer Pratt Concedes Los Angeles Mayoral Race, Continues Criticism
Spencer Pratt, a former reality TV star and Republican candidate, has acknowledged his defeat in the Los Angeles mayoral race through a social media video. He mentioned that his campaign efforts to “save” the city are coming to an end.
Pratt finished third in the primary with approximately 25% of the vote. The Associated Press confirmed this week that Mayor Karen Bass of Los Angeles and Councilwoman Nithya Raman, both Democrats, will proceed to a runoff in November.
President Trump had previously used Pratt’s loss as a basis for claiming voter fraud, though he presented no evidence. Trump’s concerns arose from Pratt’s second-place standing on election night to eventually placing third days later. This shift in standings came as a result of California’s slower ballot-counting process, particularly due to the influx of mail-in ballots.
In his video, Pratt marked the upcoming end of his campaign and chose not to dispute the election results. Nonetheless, he continued to criticize Bass and Raman, referring to the decision left for voters as “dumb and dumber.” His message involved insults, heated accusations, and prominently featured dystopian imagery paired with unsettling audio.
Pratt emphasized his intention was not to gain political power, but to reveal what he perceives as a corrupt system. “I don’t have campaign laws hamstringing me now. It’s war,” he stated.
