U.S. Representative Thomas Massie has officially submitted paperwork to the Federal Election Commission (FEC) for the 2028 election cycle. This move hints at a possible resurgence in his political career following a defeat in his recent House primary.
The announcement closely follows Massie’s loss to Ed Gallrein in the Republican primary for Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District. Massie garnered 45.1 percent of the vote against Gallrein’s 54.9 percent. The campaign proved challenging amid a public dispute with President Donald Trump, who criticized Massie, labeling him the ‘worst congressman in the Republican Party.’
Massie took to social media platform X to announce his filing, stating, ‘I filed with FEC for the 2028 House race. This allows me to raise funds to continue my political operations supporting my position as a current office holder and as a potential candidate for federal office. I haven’t made a final decision about which office to seek, if I run.’
This decision indicates Massie’s intention to keep his political avenues open as he considers his options following the notable setback in his electoral journey.
This is a developing story. More information will be provided as available.
