With the Tony Awards approaching, now is the ideal time to catch as many nominated shows as possible to decide which productions to support. Two new musicals, ‘The Lost Boys’ and ‘Schmigadoon!’, lead the nominations with 12 each, while the revival of ‘Ragtime’ closely follows with 11. The play ‘Death of a Salesman’ has garnered nine nominations. Though some shows, such as ‘Bug’, ‘Liberation’, ‘Little Bear Ridge Road’, ‘Marjorie Prime’, ‘Oedipus’, ‘Punch’, and ‘Waiting for Godot’, have completed their runs, most nominated productions are still available for viewing.
To purchase tickets, paying full price is an option through the production’s website or in person at the theater box office to avoid convenience fees. However, comparison shopping on sites like TodayTix, BroadwayBox, and TheaterMania, known for their discounts, can save you money. It is advised to steer clear of unverified vendors to avoid counterfeit risks.
If you prefer purchasing tickets close to the show time and do not mind unpredictable seat locations, lottery and rush tickets offer substantial discounts. Winning the lottery or buying rush tickets quickly is required. Trusted sources like Playbill provide detailed ticketing policies. Moreover, TKTS booths located in Times Square and Lincoln Center offer same- or next-day tickets at a discount for in-person purchases, with several nominated shows included.
