On Sunday, Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence guided his team to a 22-17 triumph against Joe Burrow and the Bengals in Cincinnati. This victory marked a significant career milestone for Lawrence.
Prior to this game, Lawrence had not defeated the Bengals since starting his NFL career in 2021. With this win, he has now beaten every other AFC team during his time in the league.
During Sunday’s game, Lawrence completed 18 of his 23 passes, accumulating 227 yards and one touchdown. Meanwhile, Bengals quarterback Burrow achieved an impressive 428 passing yards and a touchdown, but also suffered two interceptions.
“The game shifted when the Bengals lost Ja’Marr Chase to a concussion during the first half, affecting their offensive potential.”
Lawrence’s performance this season has been strong, disproving early doubts regarding his ability to maintain his role as Jacksonville’s starting quarterback. Last year, he led the Jaguars to a 13-4 record, securing the AFC South title and a playoff position.
If Lawrence can lead the Jaguars to another playoff appearance, it will mark his third such achievement and further counter past criticisms of his suitability for the team. With a current 3-1 record, Jacksonville leads their division and seems poised for another successful season. Lawrence has achieved 616 passing yards and stands tied for fifth in the NFL with seven touchdown passes. His QBR of 73.3 ranks fifth in the league and represents a personal best along with his 107.8 passer rating.
Following last season’s results, the Jaguars appear to be serious contenders within the AFC, although many games are still on the docket. Jacksonville’s upcoming matches include hosting the NFC’s Philadelphia Eagles (2-2) on Sunday, Oct. 11, and the Houston Texans (0-4) on Sunday, Oct. 18, both anticipated to be winnable contests.
