U.S. Vice President JD Vance expressed strong disapproval of the violent protests occurring in France. He attributed the unrest to what he described as ‘western liberals’ importing policies that, in his view, contribute to social unrest. Vance cautioned that Democrats in the U.S. aim to foster similar conditions.
The protests erupted in France on Saturday, with demonstrators voicing anger over rising living costs and school conditions. Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez reported that the protests, which included 110 marches, attracted around 550,000 participants nationwide. Approximately 400 individuals were detained.
The widespread demonstrations resulted in significant damage across various cities. Shops were looted, and a municipal police station faced destruction. The town of Limoges saw its city hall, a historic structure built in 1873, become a casualty of the riots.
Vance shared a video capturing the flames consuming Limoges and commented, ‘Western liberals imported the third world into France and other countries, claiming diversity and compassion were the goals. They neglected essential discussions on assimilation and compatibility, despite warnings of these outcomes.’
He added, ‘I sincerely hope France, a nation of remarkable beauty and admirable people, halts this chaos before more heritage sites are destroyed.’ Vance urged Americans to observe these events closely, suggesting, ‘This is the future congressional Democrats envision for the United States.’
The situation continues to evolve, and more updates will follow.
