On Friday night, Cleveland Guardians fans faced multiple setbacks due to the weather. The American League Division Series Game 4 was postponed, though not until an hour after the scheduled start. Many fans had already traveled to the game and spent money on parking, food, and merchandise.
Adding to the chaos, the Guardians’ social media posted ‘Rain or shine’ just an hour before the delay. Yet, the situation worsened with a ticket adjustment announcement from the Guardians after the postponement.
Fans holding tickets for Game 4 learned they would be valid for Game 5, now scheduled for Sunday. Those with Game 5 tickets didn’t need to take any action and could attend the ballpark on Saturday night. Initially, this seemed manageable, but frustration grew when fans realized they might miss witnessing a potential series-clinching win, now set for Saturday instead of Sunday.
A user expressed disbelief on social media, arguing that Game 4 should occur on Saturday, followed by Game 5 on Sunday, suggesting significant confusion over the ticket usage order.
‘Imagine anticipating tickets to a possible pennant-clinching win, only to have them changed to Game 4. Entirely unreasonable. Tickets should stay linked to their original game number,’ read a social media post.
Others felt annoyed, believing they lost the chance to attend the final series game. However, if the Guardians triumph on Saturday, fans with tickets meant for Friday could experience a unique situation.
Assuming favorable weather, the game is slated to start at 8:00 p.m. ET.
