Congressional Republicans Support Renaming of the Defense Department

Congressional Republicans are showing support for the Trump administration’s initiative to rename the Defense Department to the Department of War. This effort is gaining traction as language for the name change has been included in critical legislation that must pass.

The proposal is currently present in initial drafts of both the House and Senate defense policy bills. Despite its inclusion, the proposal continues to face significant challenges before it can be enacted into law.
