Jon Gosselin’s Family Struggles
Jon Gosselin, former reality TV star of ‘Jon & Kate Plus 8,’ has not spoken to most of his children for over ten years. He revealed this during an interview with Entertainment Tonight, calling them “perfect strangers now.” This estrangement involves six of his kids.
His marriage to Kate Gosselin ended in divorce back in 2009, a significant turning point. The popular show evolved into ‘Kate Plus 8,’ focusing on Kate’s life post-divorce until it concluded in 2017. The couple shares twins, Mady and Cara, along with sextuplets Hannah, Leah, Alexis, Joel, Aaden, and Collin.
Living Arrangements and Communication
In 2018, Collin and Hannah started living with Jon. While Hannah maintains contact with her mother, Collin is estranged from his siblings. Jon, expressing a desire to reconnect, noted, “I mean, I know Hannah has, but I have not personally talked to them.” He emphasized the importance of communication apart from any book releases.
Estrangement Felt Strongly
For over 13 years, Jon has been distant from Mady and Cara, without understanding the cause. As for the other children, he mentioned the last interaction occurred before COVID, stating, “I haven’t seen them since before COVID maybe.” He expressed ongoing efforts to reach them, claiming, “I’ve tried to reach out to you publicly. In the early days, I tried to reach out to you privately.” His message was simple: he hopes his children will eventually reach out to him.
Collin’s Revelations and Public Apology
Collin Gosselin released a revealing memoir titled ‘In The Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood.’ The book, released weeks before Jon’s plea, details Collin’s accusations against his mother, Kate Gosselin. Allegations include oppressive behavior, such as restraining him with zip ties and isolating him in the basement.
“I’d like an apology, simply put, an apology and for her to admit, and just take accountability for what she did,” Collin shared.
Kate responded to fan comments, underscoring her family’s understanding of her character. She stated, “I know who I am and my kids know who I truly am and to me, that’s all that matters.” This response came in the midst of heightened public scrutiny.
