Search for Noah’s Ark: 3D Model Built by Archaeological Team
A U.S.-based team known as Noah’s Ark Scans, part of an international collaboration, has completed the first phase of its mission to uncover the remains of Noah’s Ark within Turkey’s Durupınar Formation. This effort includes archaeologists, geologists, and soil scientists who aim to determine if the site holds remains of the biblical vessel.
Recently, the group constructed a 3D model of what they believe to be the Ark’s current resting place using ground-penetrating radar data. This development marks a significant milestone, following their initial drilling last month where samples were taken for wood testing.
The team’s goal is to identify wooden structures and challenge the view that the Durupınar Formation is merely a natural rock formation. However, confirmation of the vessel’s presence remains uncertain as studies continue.
Field Tech’s collaboration enabled Noah’s Ark Scans to release images of the newly created 3D model. “A 3D scale model of the Ark as it currently rests has been completed!” reads their announcement.
Phase two of the operation is set to start, extending the work of phase one by implementing geophysical survey tools that weren’t utilized previously. Founder Andrew Jones revealed plans to focus on undiscovered areas, anticipating adjustments based on the analysis of soil samples from the first phase.
Final results from these tests and reports are expected by April or May next year, according to Jones.
This story continues to develop with more updates anticipated.
