The Chicago Bears fell to the Green Bay Packers with a decisive 31-7 defeat at Lambeau Field. This loss followed a period of bold expressions from the Bears ahead of their NFC North clash.
Green Bay’s defense outmatched the Bears’ offense, holding them to just 246 yards and 3.6 yards per play. Both teams’ backup quarterbacks had difficulty finding momentum, and Chicago managed one touchdown via running back D’Andre Swift, who gained only 45 rushing yards.
The Packers’ victory fueled reactions from critics and fans, including NBA star Anthony Davis. Davis, who is an avid Packers fan, despite hailing from Chicago, took a playful jab at Bears wide receiver Luther Burden III on social media.
“@lutherburden3 heard you ain’t wanna play today champ!” Davis quipped in a comment that quickly attracted attention.
Davis, a 10-time NBA All-Star and 2020 NBA Champion, plays for the Washington Wizards. Burden humorously responded to Davis’s remark by calling him a “glazing cheese head” and suggested Davis should remove Chicago from his social media bio.
The Bears-Packers rivalry has seen increased intensity recently, notably with Caleb Williams steering the Bears’ offense. Last season, he helped the Bears rise to the NFC North’s summit, including a notable win over the Packers towards season’s end and a subsequent playoff victory in the NFC Wild Card Round.
In the recent matchup, Chicago was without their starting quarterback, Caleb Williams. Coach Ben Johnson had managed well without Williams in earlier games. The team, with other quarterbacks Keenum and Bagent, secured wins over the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Jets.
The Bears will hope Williams returns for their next encounter with the Packers on Christmas Day at Soldier Field. This presents an opportunity for redemption and to justify any prior trash talk.
