President Donald Trump shared insights on negotiations between the United States and Iran following a memorandum of understanding (MOU) aimed at ending ongoing hostilities. Trump provided his perspective in an interview with journalist Marc Caputo. He addressed the 14-point agreement and countered claims dismissing it as akin to an unconditional surrender by Iran.
It’s probably unconditional surrender,
Trump asserted.
Caputo sought clarity by asking, Is it?
Trump reiterated his stance, pointing to the decimation of Iran’s military capabilities. He cited the destruction of 159 ships and noted that Iran’s military assets, including aircraft, had been vastly diminished.
The President emphasized the U.S.’s strategic efforts to dismantle Iran’s military leadership. He mentioned the elimination of key figures, including Ayatollah Khomeini, and noted that a subsequent leadership installment was similarly dealt with.
Military Operations:
During the interview, Trump disclosed details of recent covert military actions. The operations involved disabling Iran’s radar systems to seclude their ships. Over a period spanning two months, various U.S. naval offensives successfully neutralized Iran’s fleet sequentially each night.
For two months, we eliminated their ships under the radar,
Trump explained, detailing specific nightly operations which remained undetected until recently.
Economic Motivations:
Trump also addressed economic aspects of the negotiations. He highlighted the positive impact on the stock market and oil prices following agreements associated with the MOU. This included reopening the Strait of Hormuz and potential nuclear negotiations.
According to Trump, reopening the strait is projected to stabilize oil flow and keep oil prices steady, with the aim of preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear capabilities.
Agreement Outcomes:
The MOU, agreed upon by Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, mandates an end to the current conflict. It also calls for two months of nuclear talks, contributing to economic stability and fostering diplomatic resolutions.
President Trump concluded by highlighting the decline in crime within Washington, D.C., alongside urban renewal efforts. He credited the administration’s policies for making significant improvements to the city’s safety and aesthetics.
