ABC News Deletes Report on Trump Sons’ Business Dealings
ABC News recently removed an article that critiqued the business transactions of Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump. The removal occurred after legal threats were issued, and the network provided neither an explanation nor an editor’s note about the article’s deletion. This report was available on the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine.
The article, originally titled “Trump sons’ investments have won billions in Pentagon contracts since his election,” discussed investments by a company linked to Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump in Anduril, a firm involved in building a new shipyard in Baltimore. According to ABC News, 1789 Capital, a venture capital firm with Donald Trump Jr. as a partner, invested $2.5 billion in Anduril in June 2025.
Since that investment, Anduril has secured 135 contracts with the U.S. government, totaling approximately $1.8 billion, according to defense contracts available on SAM.gov.
Alexa Henning, representing 1789 Capital, criticized the article as biased and incorrect, contending that ABC reporters misinterpreted the nature of investments. Henning clarified that the article confused fund-raising with investments. She also stated that several companies, not solely those linked to Trump, received government contracts during both the Biden and Trump administrations.
Following the backlash, ABC News removed the article and any related promotional social media posts. Despite Henning’s communication with ABC News pointing out several reporting errors, the network has not commented publicly regarding the report’s removal or the absence of a retraction.
Donald Trump Jr. responded to the deletion by rebuking Governor Gavin Newsom, who had circulated the original article.
