Conor Kennedy and Giulia Be Celebrate Rio Wedding
Conor Kennedy, son of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Brazilian singer Giulia Bourguignon Marinho, known professionally as Giulia Be, celebrated their marriage in Rio de Janeiro earlier this month. The event spanned three days, showcasing the city’s beaches, mountaintops, and historic streets.
The wedding festivities started on October 8, featuring prominent locations like the Christ the Redeemer statue and Igreja Nossa Senhora do Carmo da Antiga Sé, a historically significant church in downtown Rio. Reports indicate a reception followed at a historic mansion in Jardim Botânico. According to Vogue, the couple legally tied the knot in a private civil ceremony in Los Angeles in March.
Giulia Be expressed her affection for Rio de Janeiro, sharing, “We wanted to celebrate not just the wedding, but also Rio de Janeiro, the city we love.” She cherished the moment with family overlooking the city.
Marinho told Brazilian outlet Globo earlier this year that the celebration was an opportunity to bring Kennedy’s friends and family to Brazil. She stated, “The only chance to bring all of Kennedy’s friends and family to Brazil,” emphasizing her desire to ensure they had a great time.
The Antiga Sé church, dating back to 1808, originally served as the royal chapel and cathedral after the Portuguese royal court arrived in Brazil. Nearby, the historic Praça XV de Novembro square offers visitors access to other significant sites and waterfront views.
The wedding celebrations commenced with a welcome party in Alto da Boa Vista’s hills. The following day, guests enjoyed beach volleyball on Ipanema and a blessing at Christ the Redeemer atop Corcovado Mountain within Tijuca National Park.
A reception occurred at Instituto Brando Barbosa in Jardim Botânico, home to the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden, known for its diverse plant collection and historical significance.
Conor Kennedy is the grandson of the late Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, brother to President John F. Kennedy. Family photos from the celebration shared by RFK Jr. depicted the wedding party beneath the Christ the Redeemer statue and his wife, Cheryl Hines, alongside samba dancers.
Giulia Be, wearing a Calvin Klein slip dress, channeled understated elegance reminiscent of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, Conor’s late aunt by marriage. The festivities also included the couple following updates on the Seminoles-Cardinals game on their phones.
On social media, Giulia Be commented, “Love you, Bobby,” expressing joy at seeing family and friends enjoy her hometown.
