In a significant development, Tiger Woods introduced PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp during a press conference on Tuesday morning. This marked Woods’ first official public appearance since his DUI arrest in March and subsequent rehab stint abroad.
Woods, a key figure on the Tour’s Future Competition Committee, expressed his honor in being involved with the committee. He’s played an active role in shaping the Tour’s future direction.

The 15-time major champion was arrested following a two-car rollover crash near his home. Authorities indicated he was found with hydrocodone pills, although his breathalyzer tests showed no sign of alcohol. Subsequently, Woods was permitted to travel abroad for treatment in Zurich, Switzerland, following his not guilty plea.
The PGA Tour has adopted recommendations from the Future Competition Committee, aiming for structural changes starting in 2028. This new format introduces two concurrent series: the Championship Series and the Challenger Series. Woods, seen supporting his son Charlie at a recent U.S. Junior Amateur, continues to influence the sport’s future.
The Championship Series will host around 23-24 events annually, featuring fields of approximately 120 players from February to August. Meanwhile, the Challenger Series will have larger fields with 144 players, running concurrently with Championship events. Championship players won’t be eligible to participate in Challenger events.
At least 90 players in the Championship Series will secure full exemption for the next season, while others may face relegation to the Challenger Series. The Challenger Series will promote a minimum of 20 players to the Championship Series each season.
The Tour’s Fall Series will act as a ‘last chance’ opportunity, offering four to six events where players can vie for Championship Series spots. Additionally, the postseason will see major changes from 2028, including match play competitions and rotating Tour Championships across prestigious courses previously unused by the Tour.
